Keep updated on recent news about Chasing Daybreak! 1/29/06: The redesigned Chasing Daybreak website is launched at www.chasingdaybreak.com. 1/26/06: The short film "Eracesure" by Chasing Daybreak Director Justin Leroy is screened at the Northwest Asian American Film Festival in Seattle. 1/25/06: MAVIN Foundation sponsors a screening of Chasing Daybreak and facilitated dialogue with Seattle University students. 1/19/06: Chasing Daybreak is reviewed in New York's Village Voice, which praised the Film for, "...illuminat[ing] facets of race and racism that don’t often get the attention they deserve... in this case, five mixed people traversing a literal landscape gets to the ideological heart of America's racial landscape." 1/19/06: MAVIN Foundation officially announces Chasing Daybreak's release via a press release. 1/19/06: Over 200 guests pack the University of Washington's Mary Gates Hall for the official premiere of Chasing Daybreak! 12/13/05: Chasing Daybreak holds its South American premiere in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 10/24/05: MAVIN Foundation's Matt Kelley conducts a work-in-progress screening in Seoul, Korea, as part of his trip to an international conference of interracially married women. 10/1/05: MAVIN Foundation announces release of Chasing Daybreak: A Film About Mixed Race in America, via nationwide series of premieres. See photos here. 8/22/05: Pre-release workshop at the Life Learning Academy in San Francisco. 8/15/05: The Chasing Daybreak website is live! 7/27/05: A trailer for the Film is now publicly available. 7/1/05: The postproduction team has begun the process of gathering secondary materials, including copies of media clippings and archival photographs, to begin assembly of the first rough cut. 5/10/05: After 10,000 miles, the Tour ends with a Seattle homecoming celebration. 4/29/05: The crew interviews U.S. Senator Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. 4/24/05: Generation MIX is featured in the New York Times and later on National Public Radio (NPR). 4/4/05: The Tour officially begins. The crew is on the road for five weeks, making over 20 stops around the nation to raise awareness of multiracial issues. 3/21/05 - 4/4/05: The Generation MIX crew begins an intensive two-week crash course in filmmaking. 12/1/04: Filmmaker Justin Leroy partners with the MAVIN Foundation to document the Generation MIX National Awareness Tour. |
